Travel Grants

Your workplace can apply for a ‘Sustainable Travel Grant’ from Milton Keynes Council to help implement measures that increase travel to your organisation by active and sustainable modes. The grants are available to businesses who can demonstrate how the funding will be used to encourage and enable their workforce to make positive changes to their travel behaviour. The grants, up to the value of £1,000, will support plans to encourage more people in Milton Keynes to walk, cycle, scoot or use public transport, building on the rise of greener, more environmentally friendly, people-powered journeys.

MK Accelerator

Applications are now open for the new Milton Keynes Accelerator. A brand new programme sponsored by Milton Keynes Council and powered by Connected Places Catapult. Designed to support SMEs with innovative solutions which can improve connectivity, boost urban sustainability and solve some of the challenges Milton Keynes faces to becoming a leading sustainable city.

The Accelerator will be selecting 10 SMEs to join a 6 month programme providing an opportunity to work with strategic industry partners including Centre:MK and Socius Development.

Industry partners will play an active role in challenge setting, product validation and provide access to testing facilities and internal expertise. One of the main programme aims is to maximise commercial engagement, so selected SMEs will actively explore trial opportunities in testbed facilities owned and operated by the council.

SME Programme- Diamond Resilience

Entrepreneurs in Milton Keynes could receive a share of more than £100,000 worth of specialist training after MK Council launched its biggest ever support programme for small businesses.
MK Council has partnered with leading business groups to provide support and training to 100 small and medium size businesses. The programme will offer entrepreneurs practical support, including mentoring and coaching. Businesses can also get a voucher of £500 to cover support across legal, marketing and IT services among others.

Milton Keynes Council and Cranfield School of Management are delighted to announce that they are working together to provide a wide-ranging scholarship programme to support the growth of local Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) based in Milton Keynes. This includes Ready for Scale and Ready for Net Zero Growth.

Ready for Scale 

Ready for Scale will support up to 40 micro and small enterprises to develop the skills needed to help their business take a leap forward on its growth trajectory. This 12-week online programme will follow a carefully developed methodology and will help smaller or earlier stage businesses to critically review themselves, assess their position and to work out what is and isn’t working.

Ready for Net Zero Growth 

Up to 50 SME businesses will be able to apply for scholarship places on Cranfield’s highly regarded Ready for Net Zero Growth programme – enabling them to understand their carbon footprint and why it matters, to make a plan to reduce emissions and reap the rewards of doing so as part of their growth strategy.

The Future is Digital. Is Your Business Ready?

The University of Bedfordshire are running a fantastic event Productivity Escalator: The Future is Digital, which will provide useful tools and resources to help regional SMEs protect their businesses from online security risks, as well as cover relevant business support options available in the Milton Keynes area.

Domestic Abuse Training

Does your company provide training for Domestic Abuse? In partnership with Milton Keynes Council, MK Act now offer free training for employers and employees.

MK Act are urging companies in MK to ask their employers, HR and staff to attend their FREE Domestic Abuse workshops, developed for businesses of all shapes and sizes. The training is accessed as a video interactive workshop style webinar, which can be accessed across devices, such as tablets, desktops, and PCs. This training is to support public and private sector workplaces and organisations working in Milton Keynes to improve their response to domestic abuse.

Take advantage of an opportunity via South Central Institute of Technology to access funded online Microsoft accredited qualifications – usually up to £1,000 per student but free until the end of March 2022. There are courses available in: AI Fundamentals; Cloud Computing; Cloud Security; Data Fundamentals; Dynamics 365 and Power Platforms. All programmes are studied at a pace to suit you lasting on average 10 weeks – they can also be studied exclusively online.
